Yes — a valid U.S. passport or passport card is required. A driver's license alone is NOT proof of citizenship. Border hours at Lukeville/Sonoyta are 6:00 AM – 8:00 PM daily. No visa required for U.S. citizens. Stays under 72 hours do not require an FMM entry form — most weekend trips are covered. Important: No cell phone usage, recordings, or photos when crossing the border or speaking with officials.

Yes — it's the law. U.S. policies are not recognized in Mexico. In any accident you must prove financial responsibility. Purchase online before you leave through Mexico Travel Services (see our Insurance section below), at the border gas station, or at the Mexican insurance office just after customs. Open until 8 PM.

Check-in is at 4:00 PM. Check-out is at 11:00 AM. Late check-out between 11 AM and 4 PM requires advance authorization and will incur an hourly charge. Staying past 4 PM without authorization results in a full extra night charge. Plan your border crossing accordingly.

Pets are not allowed for renters. Only owners may bring dogs, and they must be registered, on-leash, walked in designated areas, and cleaned up after. Service animals with registration are permitted. Renters found with pets may be evicted and will forfeit their deposit.

Yes — all units have strict occupancy limits. One extra guest over the unit maximum is allowed only with prior authorization and a $35 USD per night surcharge. Children under 3 are counted as occupants but not charged. You will be issued wristbands matching your guest count — anyone without one may be escorted off the property.

All units include a full kitchen with cookware and dishes, linens and towels, cable TV, WiFi, and access to all resort amenities — pools, jacuzzis, fitness center, golf course access, hammock garden, and direct beach access. Do not use condo towels at the beach or pool — bring your own beach towels. Rocky Point has a Walmart and Sam's Club for supplies.

Rocky Point is safe for tourists. Highway 8 from Lukeville directly to Puerto Peñasco is a designated safety corridor with surveillance cameras and law enforcement presence. Thousands of Arizona families visit every year without incident. Drive during daylight, stay on Highway 8, and enjoy your trip. Tourism is the lifeblood of the local economy — everyone there wants you to come back.

Lukeville/Sonoyta border hours are 6:00 AM – 8:00 PM daily. Best times: early morning right after 6 AM, or late afternoon. Avoid Sunday afternoons heading north — everyone leaves at once. As of 2025, a National Guard checkpoint is stationed about 15 minutes north of Rocky Point on MEX 8 — allow extra time on the way home. Check live wait times at CBP Live Border Wait Times.

Las Palomas Policies

Check-In & Check-Out

Check-in is at 4:00 PM. Check-out is at 11:00 AM. If there is anything wrong with the condominium, notify the front desk within 20 minutes of arrival. Late check-out requires prior authorization from the front desk and is subject to hourly charges.

Resort Rules

Do not rearrange or remove furnishings. All items are inventoried. Damaged, broken, missing, or misplaced items will be charged to the renter.
Mexican law prohibits firearms and fireworks.
Zero tolerance for threatening or abusive behavior. Violators are subject to immediate removal.
Quiet hours are 10:00 PM to 7:00 AM. After 10 PM, security will intervene.
Wristbands must be worn at all times during your stay. Loss of bracelet is $12 USD.
Pets are not allowed for renters — only registered service animals.
Hanging clothes or items on balcony railings is strictly prohibited.
Barbecues are only allowed in designated areas. No grilling on balconies or patios.
Nudism is not permitted anywhere on the property.
Smoking is not permitted inside any unit, building, elevator, or restaurant.
Deposit trash in designated areas only — not in hallways.
Children under 14 must have adult supervision at all pools, jacuzzis, and beach areas at all times.
Children under 14 are not allowed in jacuzzis. Children under 10 must be accompanied by an adult.
No diving or running around pools or jacuzzis.

Pool Rules

Pool hours vary by complex. Only synthetic UV-protection t-shirts are allowed in pools. Bathing suits are mandatory. Renters are not allowed to bring glass or coolers to pool areas. No unattended lounge chair reserving — unattended items may be removed by security during high-occupancy periods.
